Exploring Burma’s Bookshops: OS 2
A sister shop to the larger OS store on 37th Street. This iteration opened in 2017 to take advantage of the busy foot traffic on Pansodan. The manager, U Han Myint, often seen from the main street with a book in his hand through the open shutter space, has complete control over the shop, including purchases and sales …
With roughly 30 to 50 customers every-day and about 10 to 15 purchases, its not as busy as OS1. The English language section is much smaller but full of surprises with works difficult to find anywhere else. U Han Myint also dabbles in original English language classics if that is your thing. I once saw a five volume 19th century, London published re-edition of Charles Dickens works in almost mint condition selling for 50,000 MMK.
