The IWP Reading and Workshop Tour in Burma
The University of Iowa International Writer’s Programme is coming to Burma …
Recognised as being one of the leading creative writing programmes in the world, the IWP is sending over four writers, Robert Hass, Z Z Packer, Brenda Hillman and Christopher Merrill, to Rangoon for a reading and workshop tour in partnership with the American Centre.
The literary workshops and lectures will run for two days on January 14th and 16th, 2013.
According to Myat Sann Nyein, the Library Director, at the American Centre, each workshop will be led by one of the writers with twenty participants in each.
Day One will feature two poetry sessions, one non-fiction session and a novel/short story session between 3pm and 5pm. A lecture programme titled ‘How to Express Yourself through Writing’ will follow between 5pm and 6pm
Day Two will start with a writing workshop for American Centre students between 2.30 pm and 4pm. There will be a Book Club celebration between 4pm and 5pm, followed by a poetry competition with American Centre students and Book Club members.
